"Something seemed off."
There once was a young man who worked in a library. The local townspeople called him "Jim," for that was his name.
Jim enjoyed a good book every now and again. Sometimes, he would sit at a table and start reading a book that he fancied. His supervisor Mellany would often find him poring over his literature, and would scold him for slacking off. And who could blame her? He had work to do. No time for messing off reading books.
On one particular day, after a particularly serious rebuking by Mellany, Jim was sent to the back room, where he was ordered to laminate signs. This he did, although, wouldn't you know it, his heart just wasn't in it. It is hard to believe that anybody could really put their heart into laminating something. It's possible Mellany did. But Jim... he just couldn't do it.
Jim's girlfriend came to see him while he was laminating. She studied his face. "Jim honey," she said. "You look terrible."
"It's all right," he said. "I'll be fine. Just gotta finish this laminating."
